Hello, my name is Jan-Willem and I am adopted. I was born in Rwanda. After my mother passed away I was adopted by Dutch missionaries. I first lived in Kenya and then moved to Namibia. In 2002 I moved from Namibia to the Netherlands.
One day we were having a conversation about sexuality with three women at my company. The topic was who has a higher sex drive men or women? I expected them to say men, but to my surprise they all said women. And they had some convincing arguments. So I suggested that they make a documentary about it and explore this topic further.
The film was a humbling experience for me, two times women proved me wrong. When I first heard women suggest that they had a higher sex drive I thought they were crazy. But as I continued to listen I became more convinced. The second time I thought women were crazy was when they said that they can experience sex as spiritual. When I first heard women make these claims I once again dismissed it, but as more women kept saying it I realized that I had to abandon my views as a man and try to view it from a female perspective. It was then that I realized that sex had many more dimensions.
